Saints reveal 10 favourite Noosa cafes, takeaways

It has been a year of ups and downs for the St Kilda Saints AFL team.

They have enjoyed living and training in a COVID-free resort bubble just a short Sherrin kick away from Noosa's Main Beach.

But spending months away from their Victorian family and friends has no doubt taken its toll on these young professional athletes.

As the sixth-place Saints prepare for the 2020 AFL final series, they have taken a moment out of their gruelling training schedule to share their top ten Noosa cafes, coffee shops and takeaway joints.

The top ten list is based solely on takeaway options as AFL's strict COVID protocols prevent players from dine-in experiences.

Puncheur, Noosa Junction

Well-known as an early morning coffee hub for cyclists, the Saints have come to love Puncheur's barista brews - locals believe they mainly enjoy the sneaky brownie on top of the coffee.

Nosh Express, Hastings St

They might hit hard on the field, but heaven help the Hastings St tourist who gets in between the Saints boys and their beloved Mega Schnitzel Burgers from Nosh Express.

Blended Health Bar, Hastings St

If there is a banana shortage in Queensland any time soon, it won't be because of a cyclone in Far North Queensland.

It will be because the Saints have enjoyed too many Bananarama smoothies from Blended in Bay Village on Hastings St.

At the end of each training session, the boys engage in a kicking competition with the loser having to shout the popular drinks for the entire team.

Raw + Rice, Hastings St

Lunch time is a no-brainer for these growing boys. It is straight down to Raw + Rice on Hastings St for a healthy poke bowl filled with chicken or salmon.

Massimo's Gelateria, Hastings St

Did someone say ice cream?

Even professional athletes have cravings. And when they do, the Saints make a beeline for Massimo's on Hastings St.

However, under strict coach's orders, there may be a few less trips as finals approaches.

Chalet and Co., Sunrise Beach

As a way to de-stress and re-caffeinate after a tough game, you may see the Saints players enjoying a nice strong coffee at Chalet & Co at Sunrise Beach.

Costa Espresso, Sunshine Beach

They love their coffee these Saints players. What can you expect, having come from Victoria?

Costa Espresso is another of the players top spots to enjoy a hot brew.

Betty's Burger, Hastings St

You have only got to walk past Betty's Burgers on Hastings St to see its popularity, but the Saints burger of choice is less traditional than the majority.

A lot of the boys have been opting for the bun-free burgers.

Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

A Taste of Spice, Noosa Junction

The Saints are known for their marching, and that's exactly what you'll see them doing at dinner time as they make their way to Taste of Spice in Noosa Junction for a their stir fried noodles or vegetables.

The Steamed Bun Co., Noosa Junction

As tourists, the Saints players have had to rely on locals to advise of the best places to eat.

Thankfully one of their strength and conditioning coaches is a Coast local and he pointed them straight to The Steamed Bun Co. in the Junction.

The duck buns has proven the stand out dish.

The St Kilda Saints thanked Noosa for its hospitality during their extended stay on the Coast.

They have been blown away by the friendliness and respect shown by all members of the public.

The AFL club sent a special shout out to their resort host Noosa RACV for outstanding service while catering 45 players and the staff and families.
