Say goodbye to winter this weekend by feeling the sun on your skin

Goodbye winter, this weekend is about the sun

THIS will be the weekend to feel the sun on your bones.

After last weekend was beset by haunting rains for much of the south-east, most of the state will from Thursday morning be fine and clear.

From this afternoon, there will be some rain moving from the northern New South Wales coast, reaching as far north as Gladstone.

This won't be too painful, with showers expected to dump between 5mm and 15mm by Wednesday evening.

In the south-east, it should be all gone by Thursday morning when a high pressure ridge will drag back the sunshine.

Take it from Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe:

Everywhere will be beautiful for getting out on the weekend, in contrast with the past weekend.

Even the odd light shower won't dampen spirits, he said.

Although more than 75% of the state is still drought-declared, parts of the south-east including the Sunshine Coast have had the wettest August in seven years.

The Coast had almost three times its August average of 76mm with 206mm falling over the 31 days.
