CRICKET: The Coast's premier cricket side looks set to take advantage of some muggy conditions at John Blanck Oval today, after winning the toss and electing to bowl in its two-day clash with Toombul.
Fast bowlers Ashley Renouf and James Bazley will be out to replicate their 10-wicket haul against South Brisbane last weekend and propelled the Scorchers into the top-four ahead of today's clash.
Renouf and Wade Johnston are currently bowling to the youngest player to be picked for Queensland's first-class cricket side, Matt Renshaw and opening partner Brian Sanders.
With wild weather predicted to lash the Sunshine Coast later this afternoon, the Scorchers will be out to claim as many wickets as possible before a possible rain delay.
The Scorchers made one change to the side leading into today's match, with in-form second grade batsman Brendan Mahaffey getting a call-up.
The 22-year-old from Gympie has hit consecutive centuries in the Allan Pettigrew Shield in recent weeks, and replaces another Gympie product in Kaden Dickfos.
