Season's big finish

THE finals are in full swing for Noosa District Junior Rugby League Club with the possibility of four teams in the Grand Final.

The preliminary finals are at Bribie Island this weekend with three Noosa teams playing for a berth in the big one. The under 11s competition will play their Grand Final this weekend at Bribie also.

Last Friday night saw the under 16s travel to Caboolture for a semi against Nambour. The boys struggled in the first half with ball handling errors and were lucky to only trail by 12 - 4 at half-time.

After inspirational words from Coach Goldthorpe they returned to the field on fire winning the game 20 - 14. James Langton, Jackson Condon and Reagan Allen stepped up and had great games. The boys will take on Gympie at Bribie Island for a spot in the Grand Final.

Noosa under 12Bs dominated against Bribie Island in the first knockout semi-final at Caboolture. In our best team effort yet, every single player contributed to the 20 - nil score line. The boys played with intensity and desperation in defence, preventing Bribie from crossing our line.

Fish crossed the white line for a hat trick of tries, one to Jake and conversions to Josh W and Benny. The whole team was awarded Player of the Match. The boys play Caboolture this weekend in the Preliminary final.

Noosa under 12 Gold took on Caboolture in the do-or-die semi-final. Caboolture got off to a great start leading the Noosa boys 20 - nil at half-time.

Magical words of self-belief from the coaching staff at half-time revived the boys to keep their final hopes alive, settling down to play some awesome footy in the second half.

The halves started combining with Blake Wilson throwing an inspirational inside ball to Isaak Mclean resulting in a try under the posts. This set the mood for the boys, dominating in attack and defence.

The time was ticking and Noosa was still trailing 16 - 20 when Macca scored in the corner and with a couple of minutes remaining, the score was locked at 20 all.

Pressure was the name of the kick that Blake Wilson took from the sideline and he made it look easy, sliding it over the black dot Darren Lockyer-style, winning the game 20 - 22.

The team never stopped trying and they showed maturity beyond their years.

Our under 11 Gold team will take on Coolum in the grand final. Good luck boys and win, lose or draw, the club is very proud of your achievements.
