Click Frenzy chaos: Customers fume as internet slows to crawl

The Click Frenzy event begins tonight and runs for 24 hours.

FRUSTRATED shoppers have taken to social media to complain about slow internet speeds and the subscription process during the bi-annual Click Frenzy shopping event.

The online bonanza kicked off on Tuesday at 7pm with discounts on a range of home, fashion, toys, food, sports equipment and travel from more than 500 Australian companies.

Founder Grant Arnott said the twice annual sale included "ridiculous prices on things like Google Home for $2, an Xbox for $4, we've got an LG 55-inch TV selling for $10, we've got a FitBit going for $2, a 10.5-inch iPad Pro 64GB for $10."

However many users found the chance of nabbing such a deal was slim due to fierce competition and slow internet speeds.

Many took to social media to complain about their experience, with some saying it took a long time for subscription emails to appear in their inbox.

Not everyone was disappointed with the sale with some users saying they scored great deals online.

Around two million Australians are expected to descend on the Click Frenzy website tonight, about half a million more than last year.

The 24-hour event generated about $200 million in sales last year, and Mr Arnott said he was hoping for $250 million this year.
