Skydiver hurts neck after hard landing

A SKYDIVER has suspected neck injuries after a hard landing near Goondiwindi yesterday morning.

The 25-year-old Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical serviceman was tasked to Westmar at 9.30am.

"The patient landed, cleared his parachute and returned to his tent but felt neck pain shortly after," CareFlight Co-Pilot Andrew Bavage said.

The Queensland Ambulance Service treated him at the scene, stabilising his neck.

The Surat service flew the man to the Roma Base Hospital.

He travelled in a stable condition.

It's the second primary mission the specialist aeromedical team has flown in four days from the Roma base, one of two CareFlight bases in the South West ensuring rapid response critical care in the region.

On Saturday the team treated and transferred a man injured in a single vehicle rollover on the Leichhardt Highway between Miles and Wandoan.

He was flown to the Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.

The Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service's specialist medical teams provide lifesaving care at the most serious accidents and emergencies in Queensland's far South West.
