Caloundra solar panel fire extinguished

FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a Caloundra West home yesterday with reports of a fire blazing from a solar panel.

Electrical Safety officers are investigating what caused a fire to ignite in the electrical component underneath the solar panels.

Firefighters extinguished the flames quickly before it could spread to the roof cavity. Thermal imaging equipment was used to investigate whether the fire had spread through the roof.

The owners were home at the time and called 000 when they smelled smoke. No one was injured.
