Spartans face tense wait for weather to clear
GRIDIRON: The Sunshine Coast Spartans face a tense wait this afternoon after wild storms interrupted its semi-final against Brisbane Rhinos at the Kawana Sports Precinct.
The game was called off at nil-all as gale-force winds and heavy rain lashed the region this afternoon.
Club president Leisa O'Donnell said officials would likely have until 6.45pm to make a decision about whether the game will go ahead.
According to some players, if the game is called off, the Sunshine Coast will lose on for-and-against.
"We certainly are (hopeful). We just need to ride out the storm,” O'Donnell said.
The Spartans surprised many to make the finals series after it finished third in the 10-team competition.
Women's and colts semi-finals were also due to be played this afternoon.
