Spike in theft, break ins despite home isolation

DESPITE more and more people staying at home, Sunshine Coast police have recorded a considerable number of theft reports across the region.

Police say they are seeing break and enters and stolen vehicles offences that can easily be avoided if people lock up, even when they are home.

Eleven break and enters and stealing offences have recently been recorded across the coast including on Podargus Parade, Peregian Beach and Hendry Street, Tewantin.

There were also 11 steal from vehicles recorded around the district, mostly registration plates and wallets left in vehicles.

"People are able to purchase anti theft screws from automotive and hardware stores which will help deter registration theft," a police statement said."

"You can also prevent the theft of wallets by removing them from your vehicle."

Local cases were recorded at Wollomia Way, Sunrise Beach and Ben Lexcen Drive, Sunrise Beach.

Several vehicles have also been stolen from across the Coast

This week Noosa Police sought public information to help located a Volkswagen stolen from a Noosaville address.

There were 11 break and enter and stealing offences recorded around the district.

• Nickilin Way, Wurtulla

There were 10 stolen vehicle offences recorded at:
• Alkira Street, Buddina
• Oceanic Drive, Warana
• Dual Avenue, Warana
• Owan Drive, Landsborough
• Winston Court, Landsborough
• Nungo Street, Pacific Paradise
• Mons Road, Forest Glen
• Bourke Street and Esplanade, Golden Beach
• Elizabeth Way, Nambour
