Spotted nude and clueless

A MORNING walker was shocked to spot a naked man loitering at Blacks Beach.

Samuel James Hull has no idea why he was naked, or what happened to his clothes.

Northern Beaches police were called to an address about 4.40am on January 4 because a naked man was loitering nearing the street. The dog squad attended about 5am and Hull was spotted by officers. A search did not turn up his clothing, prosecutor Michael Ball said.

Officers said Hull seemed to find the situation funny and appeared disinterested in assisting police with their enquiries.

The 22-year-old was not in dispute of the facts that were read out to the Mackay Magistrates Court. However, he had been to a family function and consumed alcohol. This was on top of consuming medication for a fever and sore throat he'd got three days earlier.

Hull had fallen asleep on a bench on his parent's porch patio and didn't recall anything afterwards until being interviewed by police, the court was told.

He didn't remember taking off his clothes.

Hull, who is an English national, has no criminal history in England or Australia. This was his first court appearance.

He was "very embarrassed" by the incident and "very remorseful", the court was told.

References tendered to Magistrate Mark Morrow describe it as "completely out of character". Hull pleaded guilty to wilful exposure and was placed on a $200 six-month good behaviour bond.

No conviction was recorded.
