St Thomas surfers superb in school comp

SAINT Thomas More sent a team of 10 children to compete at the interschool team surf comp Walk on Water hosted by Stella Maris at Abdul's Beach in Maroochydore.

The team consisted of girls and boys ranging from 7-12 years old. Year 2 student Harper Smales (7 years old) was the youngest team member.

The team consisted of Harper Smales, Landen Smales, Mack Magee, Matias Colefax, KyePorter, Tom Harmer, Nathaniel Piggott, Amarnie Barber, Jack Foreman and Ruby Barber.

The young team surfed well beyond their years with students locking in a lot of first and second places in their heats. At the end of the day they finished second out of five teams with Buddina State Schools year 6 team winning the event.

This is a huge achievement as they were late entrants into the event and did not have any training sessions together unlike other schools.

The kids were awesome and a great representation of their school and our local area.
