Store spices up Caloundra CBD
MP FOR Caloundra Mark McArdle has officially opened the new Red Hot Chilli Pepper store in the heart of Bulcock St, Caloundra
Vicki and Roger Taylor bought the property in July and decided to run the business out of it.
Mrs Taylor said the lease at her previous shop had run out and it made sense to put Red Hot Chilli Pepper into the new property.
With more than 300 chilli products in store, Red Hot Chilli Pepper has come a long way since opening as a boutique herb and spice shop in 2011.
Among its enhancements is the Licensed to Spice Cooking School, where Mrs Taylor teaches people to cook different international cuisines, incorporating spices into each dish.
"People want to learn more about spices and that's what I'm here to do, share my passion and knowledge and show them that spice is where the majority of flavour comes from in many dishes," she said.
The new Red Hot Chilli Pepper shop now also serves gourmet chilli coffee drinks, chilli hot chocolates and chilli mochas.
"Naturally we also have other drinks on offer," Mrs Taylor said, "but we just had to come up with a point of difference and that's just got to be chilli."
Customers can enjoy their drink in the shop or in the new Marrakesh dining area at the back of the shop, which is also available for meetings and small private functions.
Next for the Red Hot Chilli Pepper brand will be a tour to India hosted by Mrs Taylor to visit the home of spice Kerala.
"Other than that, while I don't want to say too much at this stage, let's just say it involves food and it involves Caloundra," Mrs Taylor said.
"I love this town and I'm so excited that things are changing for the better."
