Suarez signs contract extension with Barca

BARCELONA superstar Luis Suarez hopes teammate Lionel Messi will follow his lead after signing a new multi-million-dollar contract with the Catalan giant.

The deal will keep Suarez at the club until 2021.

The Uruguayan striker will be 34 by the end of his new contract, which has a release clause of $207 million.

Suarez's new deal comes two months after Brazilian teammate Neymar signed up.

Messi, whose current contract takes him through to 2018, is the only one of the famed trio not to have signed with the club.

Suarez said Messi would make his decision on his own terms but hoped he too would stay.

"My renewal has nothing to do with Neymar or Messi's. Leo is a legend and he knows what he has to do and decide,” he said.

"As a teammate, I am available to help him out but Leo is old enough to decide for himself.

"We are friends and we have a great relationship, but he is an adult and he has to take that decision.”
