Swans won't rule out injured stars

AFL: Swans coach John Longmire is yet to put a line through his injured stars ahead of Friday's night qualifying final against Geelong.

Co-captain Jarrad McVeigh (calf) and forward Gary Rohan (knee) have been been cleared of any serious damage following scans. Ruckman Kurt Tippett (jaw) is also a strong chance to return to the side.

"It's a bit early to rule anyone in or out at the present time, we'll give them every opportunity (to play),” Longmire said yesterday.

"Saturday night you're not quite sure how things are going to pan out, that's why it's important not to jump to conclusions too early.”

"At the moment we haven't got all the facts, but it's looking more positive than it could have been.”

Geelong backman Harry Taylor, meanwhile, has backed struggling veteran Jimmy Bartel to play his 28th final, and make an impact.

He said the Cats "walk taller” when champions like Bartel, the 2007 Brownlow Medallist, plays.

"His record in finals is very, very good,” Taylor said.
