HIGH-strength methamphetamine as well as marijuana and stolen property have been seized in a busy day of police raids on the Sunshine Coast.

Drug and serious crime task force officers headed up a nine-month operation which ended yesterday with the arrest of at least 20 people on at least 50 charges.

Officers charged six of those people with trafficking methamphetamine, or ice, as well as marijuana after homes in predominantly southern areas, including Pelican Waters, Caloundra, Currimundi and Kawana as well as Forest Glen, were searched.

Sunshine Coast District Crime Group officer-in-charge Detective Inspector Dave Drinnen said the purity of the ice was quite strong.

"Which is obviously why our drug users are looking for that particular drug," Det Insp Drinnen said.

He said the arrests were a step in taking out methamphetamine laboratories.

"What it (high purity) does tell you is that you are very close to where the cook is," Det Insp Drinnen said.

He would not disclose what quantity of the drugs was seized. He said the amount was "significant''.

A range of stolen goods including power tools and electrical items were recovered, as was a boat that was stolen at Sunshine Beach and found at Ipswich.

"The property crime that occurs on the Coast is heavily linked to these drug networks which create a problem for the whole community," Det Insp Drinnen said.

He said the arrests were a success but was sure that drug and property crime would continue to be a problem.

He said the syndicate had been a contributor to a number of areas where there had been ice problems.

"We have no doubts that there are other syndicates that are operating which is causing the ice problem that we have on the Coast."

Investigations are continuing.
