Teen who allegedly 'ran down' cop faces court

A GLASSHOUSE teenager charged over the running down of a police officer at a random breath testing station on Good Friday has faced court for the first time.

Ty Matheson, 19, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and failing to make an effort to obtain medical help for injured officer Senior Constable Len Elliott.

The incident occurred on Steve Irwin Way, Beerwah.

Mr Elliott was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital with serious injuries, including several broken bones.

His right leg was badly damaged and subsequently amputated above the knee.

Matheson's case was adjourned yesterday for a committal mention on July 14.
