Teen stabbed in stomach in front of four mates

A TEENAGER has been stabbed in the stomach, after the car he was travelling in was targeted for attack.

The 17-year-old was in a car with four other teens when an "unknown object" hit their car in the Townsville suburb of Kelso, police say.

When they pulled over to investigate, a man confronted the group and a fight followed.

The man -- who the group did not know -- then stabbed the teen "in the lower abdomen", before fleeing on foot.

The teen was rushed to Townsville Hospital for treatment.
