Teenage driver escapes injury after car flips on street

AN 18-year-old driver escaped her crumpled car with only minor injuries after flipping on the bend of a Cooroy street.

The female P-plate driver was trapped inside her overturned Holden Commodore wagon for about 20 minutes while firefighters worked to gain access via the rear of the car.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman on site said the manoeuvre allowed a doctor and paramedics to reach the driver and render help.

The driver was transported to Nambour General Hospital with minor injuries.

With rain forecast for the next few days, police are urging drivers to be careful, patient and drive to the conditions.
