Tewantin duo named in softball team

SOFTBALL: Tewantin duo Shinai Gibbins and Josephine Wilcox have been named in the state under-17 girl's softball team.

The pair earned Queensland selection in the 2016 side after impressing at the 2015 Queensland under-17 girl's and boy's State Championships which were a chance for selectors to cast their eye over the talent.

The championships ran from September 19-21 in Toowoomba, with Wynnum taking out the girl's title while Ipswich took out the boy's competition.

The under-17 girl's Queensland team will turn their attention to training in preparation for the 2016 Australian under-17 Championships early next year.
