Theodore man killed in powered parachute accident

A MUCH-loved Theodore resident has been taken too soon following a fatal powered parachute accident on over the weekend.

His death was described to have hit the entire community of Theodore "very hard".

Shaun Edwards took off from a private airstrip on a cattle property located about 10km short of Theodore at around 8am on Saturday.

Police said the aircraft, for unknown reasons, fell into a nose-dive shortly after take-off and crashed into a field on the property.

Mr Edwards was found deceased after the incident.

The 43-year-old was described as a "prominent figure with a big personality" by members of the Theodore community, who enjoyed living life to the fullest.

His family reportedly were old members of the town, who owned a farming properties within the district.

Keith Shoesraft, who employed Mr Edwards when he was 15, said he was a vibrant man.

"He lived here all his life...he did a lot of different work and he did it well," he said.

"Shaun lived life to the limit, lived on the edge of it anyway...they say if you're not living on the edge then you're taking up too much room."

Mr Shoesraft said the loss came as quite a shock.

"You don't mind people dying when they've had their innings. We've had a few funerals around here but they're mostly people past their 70s," he said.

"It's sudden and unfortunate this one...you can't believe it when it happens."

Mr Edwards was known for his "fearless" attitude and owned many Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are still ongoing.
