A SERIOUSLY ill man who can barely walk 50 metres has had his "legs" stolen off him by heartless thieves who took his mobility scooter.
Graeme Neylan, who lives at the Bli Bli Riverside Caravan Village, relies on his scooter to get him everywhere, even across the road to where his car is parked as there is no room for it at the caravan park.
"I can't walk more than 50 metres without running out of breath," he said.
The 79-year-old suffers from emphysema and "walking is a problem".
On Sunday, at around 1pm, Mr Neylan parked his scooter on a grass patch near the Bli Bli IGA to climb in his car to visit his daughter.
In the 90 minutes he was gone, thieves stuffed his mobility scooter in the back of their station wagon and drove off with it.
CCTV footage from a nearby service station captured images of thieves sticking the scooter in their car and driving off with it.
Mr Neylan is desperate to get the scooter back.
"I'm lost without it," he said.
He has reported the case to police who are doing their best to trace the thieves.
Mr Neylan said his scooter was "blue in colour, with a basket on the front".
