Thieves leave empty handed in attempt to steal ATM

POLICE are investigating the break and enter of a convenience store which occurred in Tewantin this morning.

About 3.30am, police attended the Saint Andrews Drive store, following reports of multiple alarm activations and found the front door smashed in.

Police believe two or three men dressed in hooded jumpers forced entry by reversing a utility, before attempting to steal the ATM.

The men left the store empty handed and police investigations are continuing.
