Tigers take nothing for granted against Roos in final

AUSTRALIAN RULES: Noosa has toppled Maroochydore in all three of their encounters this season but coach Sam Faure says that means nothing heading into the south-east Queensland division one grand final.

The arch rivals will collide at Yeronga on Saturday (2.15pm), when the minor premiers Tigers will start as a hot favourite.

They have won 17 of 19 games this campaign.

"They (the players) are jumping out of their skins to get out there," Faure said.

The Tigers are hunting their first title since 2011 and they boast a strong record over the Roos this year, including a last-start 39 points mauling just a fortnight ago.

But the coach is cautious.

"I think we take some confidence out of it but we understand that grand final day is a completely different scenario," he said.

"I won't be drawing on any of that - comparisons from (games) throughout the year.

"There were different players in the teams on each occasion and...we'll take tomorrow (Saturday) as it comes."

Noosa's also had two of the past three weekends off, as a result of finishing atop the ladder and winning the major semi-final against Maroochydore.

But the lack of recent game time shouldn't be an issue, according to Faure.

"The older blokes in the team have shown their leadership skills and got around the younger blokes to make sure they've worked hard to replicate as much of a game situation as we can (at training)," he said.

Noosa will also meet Maroochydore in the division one reserves decider.

Faure said his team wasn't feeling a burden of expectation.

"We're a close-knit group and we know regardless of the result on Saturday, the sun will still come up on Sunday. Hopefully, we've got two premiership cups in our hands."
