Tips roll in for Coast firebug hunt
INFORMATION from the public is helping police in their search for a firebug thought to have lit a number of fires in the Coolum and Marcoola areas.
Noosa Criminal Investigation Branch officer Detective Senior Constable Chris Lawson said police had a rough idea of who they were looking for but were hoping for more information.
Police and firefighters have listed 17 suspicious fires since September, with most of them occurring in the past three weeks in the Mt Coolum, Coolum and Marcoola areas.
CCTV images of a man and a woman taken about the same time as fire broke out in a Marcoola fruit and vegetable store on Sunday was released to the public during the week.
It was hoped people would get in touch with information on the people's identities.
"We have received some public contact and it has been very beneficial,” Det Snr Const Lawson said.
He was unaware if there had been any more suspicious fires since the one that destroyed Good Harvest Organics.
He encouraged people to get in touch if they hadn't already done so.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
