Toowoomba man buys unwanted Manly grand final ring
A TOOWOOMBA tattoo artist has bought an NRL premiership ring on eBay from an anonymous member of the Manly Sea Eagles 2011 grand final winning team.
The Daily Telegraph reports that the ring was purchased for the bargain basement price of $2300.
It is the first time in history the most valued grand final prize has been sold online.
It was bought by Toowoomba tattoo artist Danny Wighton.
The ring is encrusted in diamonds and is one of only 25 presented after the grand final.
Mr Wighton told the Telegraph that he could not believe it was real.
"No one gives them away," he said.
Mr Wighton said he was not a Manly fan, but had plenty of mates who were. He suggested he could '"flip" it and get "four grand, at least".
