House Rules TV couple stop by for cuppa at grandma’s
A SPECIAL celebrity appearance at Radio Rentals before dropping by grandma's house in Kawana Waters for a cup of tea.
How Maddi Carter and Lloyd Wright's lives have changed since appearing on Channel 7's House Rules.
The Townsville couple was on the Sunshine Coast yesterday to host the opening of Radio Rentals' new store at Kawana Shoppingworld.
"Not many people get the opportunity where they get all their furniture given to them, like we have," Maddi said.
"I really like the idea of rent to buy. I think it's a really smart idea with the technology changing constantly. It gives you that option to have the latest stuff and be able to afford it."
Radio Rentals has been on the Coast for more than 15 years, previously on Aerodrome Rd, Maroochydore.
"It's a new era for Radio Rentals going into a shopping centre," Kawana store manager Stephen Bird said.
Mr Bird said most of their customers on the Coast were in the 25-40 age group.
"We're catering for most people either setting up a home, refurbishing a home or the rental market," he said.
"You'll also get people renting gear off us short term to sell a house."
Despite the high demand on their electronics and white goods, Mr Bird said furniture was their most sought-after product.
While Lloyd, who used to live in Mudjimba, has returned to his life as a firefighter, Maddi has just quit her job with the North Queensland Cowboys to promote careers opportunities for women in the construction and mining industries.
"It's been really fun," she said.
They are also planning their wedding for later this year.
"We want to have a really low-key barbecue in the backyard on Magnetic Island," Maddi said.
