TV host to headline the business expo

TODAY show host Lisa Wilkinson yesterday was named as the keynote speaker at the upcoming Sunshine Coast Business Expo.

The announcement at the official launch of the event at the Sunshine Coast Daily offices was overshadowed by news that the expo will feature a live jobs board offering more than 200 work opportunities as part of a combined federal Department of Employment jobs expo.

The Jobs and Skills Market component of the expo will feature 40 booths of employment services providers, as well as the jobs board.

"All the jobs through our Job Network will be available on the day, plus we'll be working with CCIQ to identify employers who are looking to recruit during the expo," local employment co-ordinator Kris McCue said.

"Most of the jobs will be on the Coast, but there will be some in the resources sector as well as the police and defence force."

Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce president Ross Hepworth said Ms Wilkinson was not just a Today host.

"She's a very successful businesswoman in her own right and a business mentor," he said.

The expo's full schedule will be released within weeks. Some 3500 people are expected at the event over the two days.
