A MASSIVE drug operation has been found under a Sunshine Coast property in an elaborate series of underground bunkers.

Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch acting officer-in-charge Graeme Farlow said police searched a Black Mountain Rd property at Cooroy on Thursday.

"Detectives located a complex underground bunker system," Detective Sergeant Farlow said.

Power was being diverted from the main residence to run exhaust fans, humidifiers and watering devices.

The crop was described as "thriving".

Det Sgt Farlow said 111 plants at various stages of growth were seized.

He said the plants had a potential street value of about $300,000.

A 54-year-old resident was charged with production and possession of a dangerous drug as well as possession of things used in production of a dangerous drug.
