Undermanned Broncos left in Warriors’ wake

ENGLISH recruit Sam Tomkins, Shaun Johnson and Chad Townsend were the stars as the Warriors handed out a thrashing to the Brisbane Broncos, 48-4, in their trial match in Dunedin yesterday.

The Broncos were missing star duo Justin Hodges and Ben Barba through injury and defensive lapses cost them dearly as the home side turned it on.

The Warriors led 22-4 at half-time thanks to a try wide out from Johnson (pictured), a double from Glen Fisiiahi and a four-pointer to former Wynnum/Manly prop Charlie Gubb.

Jack Reed had earlier touched down for the Broncos to level the scores at 4-4.

After the break the home side continued to impress with a try for Carlos Tuimavave stretching the lead.

Further tries to David Fusitua, Tomkins and a double to Konrad Hurrell in the final 20 minutes finished off a bad day for the Broncos in their final practice match of the season.
