WATCH: Huge carpet python drops in on restaurant

NOOSA'S iconic Hastings St is arguably the last place you'd imagine to find a massive python lurking in the rafters of a restaurant.

But that's exactly where Snake Catcher Noosa's Luke Huntley was called out to, at the popular Locale Restaurant yesterday.

Locale, famous for its Italian cuisine, have not yet confirmed whether they'll be adding the reptile to their menu.

Mr Huntley posted the video to social media and laughed at how easy the slippery carpet python was caught.

"I couldn't believe how easy it was, just dropped down, a fluke really," he said clearly unfazed at the snake nearly landing on him.

With the recent heavy rainfall on the Sunshine Coast and surrounds, local snake catchers have had their work cut out.

Yesterday in particularly, the snakes kept popping up out of the woodwork.

"It was hectic yesterday with the sunshine. All the snakes were hiding in high and dry places. It really brought them all out," he said.

"Snakes don't like to be in the rain. Their temperature is set for their surroundings so their core temps can drop very low.

"It isn't healthy for the snake, so they hide indoors. People would be surprised with the amount of snakes hiding in their homes."

Mr Huntley was called a dozen call-out jobs yesterday, including an eastern brown hiding under a washing machine.

He also was forced to take apart an ancient television set in Cooroy, only to find the tree snake had escaped and perched on a louvre above.
