WATCH: We can expect ‘big things’ from rugby star
RUGBY UNION: Keep an eye out for Sunshine Coast Grammar rugby sensation Tate McDermott in the coming years, because as the school's head of rugby says, "we can expect big things."
The 2015 player of the year at the Coast's premier rugby college was recently named the first player in the school's 19-year history to be picked for the Australian Schoolboys Barbarians side, which will play Tonga in September.
The Australian Schoolboys proper team will tour Samoa and Tonga later this year.
McDermott wowed selectors when playing for Queensland 1 in the Queensland Schoolboys Rugby Championships earlier this year to gain selection in the Queensland team with three other Sunshine Coast Grammar players.
Grammar's head of rugby Dan Robotham said McDermott's abilities made him a star of the future.
"He has a great pass, excellent temperament and reads the game really well. Tate has the added advantage of having that X factor (needed) to change a game," he said.
"You can expect big things from Tate in the next few years, so be sure to look out for him."
