Three businesses moving into the old Bunnings building
According to a local Mackay businessman, who wished to not be named, there will be three businesses moving into the old Bunnings building located at Greenfields.
"From what I know there will be two retail-related businesses and a health service related business occupying the space which was Bunnings," he said.
"The businesses are quite active in the market and keen to move into that space.
"There will be jobs for locals which is good for Mackay in the current climate."
The names of the businesses potentially involved were not disclosed.

After the question was posted on the Daily Mercury's Facebook page over 300 people commented with their wishlist of options.
Louise Cowan's comment which was the most liked mentioned a huge market place to cut out the middle man.
"How about a huge market place where fishos, farmers, butchers etc sell their local and home grown vegies etc direct to the public and cut out the middle man?" she said.
"Yes, like Rusty's in Cairns," Toby Venables replied.
Kylie Walker said she would like to see something to entertain Mackay's youth and families.
"Trampoline centre, laser tag, ice skating," she said.
Amanda Gray approved saying "that would be cool."
Fiona Mason agreed saying that she would like to see it turned into an indoor go-cart track.
While others said they would like to see an Aldi, Costco or Ikea come to Mackay.
"Ikea is great, you can easily spend all day there just looking," Shiralee Carter said.
Alison Rutherford's idea is more selfless than any other.
"A shelter for the homeless would be good," she said.
Amie O'Callaghan agreed.
"Yes, and very much needed, too," she said.
"But I doubt it's going to happen in a prime retail location."
