A WILD brawl involving almost a dozen people erupted in the Mackay CBD on Friday night, where one person was struck to the side of the head.

Video footage of the incident on Wood St about 10.40pm shows a man coming from behind and striking a person, causing them to fall on the ground before a number of them piled on top and struck them repeatedly.

The group then trails along as two shirtless men continue fighting.

Three police officers in the area dispersed the group.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said no one was arrested and a move on direction was given.
