Willie Mason fronts court on drink driving charge

NEWCASTLE Knights star Willie Mason will be getting some extra exercise this football season after being stripped of his driving rights.

The 33-year-old fronted the Newcastle Local Court today, charged over the post Australia-day traffic stop which saw him return a blood-alcohol reading of 0.09.

He was disqualified from driving for six months and fined $900.

Outside court, Mason told reporters respected the court's decision and planned to continue working on his off-field community campaign which helps educate children about the dangers of drink-driving.

According to the News.com, he was also happy to stop and sign the daily court list for an excited fan.
