Canberra Raiders and Cronulla Sharks trample over opponents

CRONULLA fans have received some consolation after brothers Andrew and David Fifita brought the club negative headlines, with a gritty 18-16 win over the Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground.

The Sharks are considering what punishment to hand down to the twins after David allegedly abused a junior league referee.

Then his brother Andrew was believed to have stepped in and threatened to "smash" him, at a game in Penrith on Saturday.

NRL chief executive David Smith said the actions of both were "intolerable" and was waiting for the full facts to emerge.

It was the Sharks outfit which kept a parochial and packed Belmore crowd quiet, with a controversial penalty goal to Valentine Holmes in the 74th minute the difference, after a late Josh Reynolds tackle.

Meanwhile, Penrith's hopes of making the finals were left dangling by a thread, after losing an entertaining match 34-24 to Canberra at Pepper Stadium.

In a see-sawing match, both teams went try-for-try in the first half, scoring three each.

But Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson was the difference, playing an integral role in three of his team's six tries.

Canberra flier Edrick Lee's charge down of a Peter Wallace kick late in the game, before running 90m to score, was enough to see his team overtake the Dragons into ninth place.
