Roof-walking weirdo on the run from local police

POLICE are on the trail of a man who was seen walking on the roofs of houses and loitering in the Winston Glades area.

Seven crews and the dog squad were called to the area near Kensington Way about 6pm Monday.

There had been reports from the area of Jacana Crescent earlier in the day of a drug-affected man loitering in back yards, while also harassing customers at the nearby 7-Eleven service station.

By 8pm, there were additional reports from residents that the man had been walking on the roofs of at least three houses in the area of Kensington and Chestnut Dve.

Alarmed residents said the man had also tried to enter several homes in the usually quiet neighbourhood.

Extensive searches of the area failed to locate the man, who police believe ran through a culvert near the shopping centre, through some bush and in the direction of Lance Dve, Flinders View.

A resident was able to supply police with security footage of the offender.

Police said a thong believed to have belonged to the man was also located on the roof of one of the houses.

Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information that could assist police should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
