Woman held at knifepoint in bedroom in Logan siege
A TENSE siege at Logan has ended after a man armed with a knife locked himself and a 27-year-old woman in a Greenbank bedroom.
Police said a 26-year-old Darling Heights man has been charged with offences including deprivation of liberty after the drama on Sunday night.
It will be alleged that police arrived at the home around 8pm and found a man had locked himself and a 27-year old woman in the room.
Officers tried to communicate with the man for several hours to resolve the situation and a police negiotiator attended.
The man alledgedly threatened the woman with the knife and refused to let her leave the room.
Around 1am police deployed a taser and the man was taken into custody.
The woman sustained a small laceration to her forearm during the incident.
No one else was present in the house at the time.
Two police officers sustained injuries when apprehending the man. One officer will require surgery to lacerations on his hand and the other received minor laceration to a finger.
The 26-year old man has been charged with one count each of deprivation of liberty, grevious bodily harm to an officer, threatening violence, and possession of a drug utensil, and two counts each of assault occassing bodily harm whilst armed and possession of a dangerous drug.
He will apppear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, police were called to an Everton Hills home in relation to a domestic disturbance around 10.30pm and found a man had allegedly armed himself with a rifle.
A woman and four children were sheltering in another section of the home.
A Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) declaration was made and police closed the surrounding streets to maintain safety for nearby residents.
A police negiotiator was called to the scene. Around 12.40am the man walked out of the house and was taken into custody. The PSPA declaration was revoked at 12.48am.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
A 52-year old man is assisting police with the ongoing investigation.
