Worker confronted with sawn-off shotgun during robbery

A SERVICE station worker was forced to duck and hide after a would-be robber confronted him with a sawn-off shotgun.

Police believe just before 1am, the man pulled up at the Old Gympie Rd business in Dakabin on Brisbane's north in a silver sedan.

"The man has aimed the firearm at the attendant through the locked door indicating to unlock the door," according to a police statement.

"The attendant refused and hid in the store."

Hours earlier in the Brisbane suburb of Birkdale, a man delivering food was set upon as he returned to his car.

Police believe the man was threatened with a knife after initially refusing to hand over cash.

Three men are thought to have been involved in the attempted robbery.

The driver received minor injuries.

Each of the three involved are described as about 19 years old, Caucasian and wearing dark clothing.
